Five finished sites. Open any of them.
Not screenshots or a slideshow. Five complete counselling websites running the same code a paying client gets: every page written, every form working, every accessibility check passing.
Same engine underneath. Deliberately not the same site.
Most studios show one demo and ask you to imagine it in your colours. These are five genuinely different registers (structure, typography, feel, and in one case even where the navigation lives), so you can react to something real.
Harebell Counselling
Warm and familiar. Photo-led hero, calm teal and copper, card-based credentials. Closest to what a first-time visitor expects, so it asks the least of them.
Suits: a practitioner who wants a visible face and a structure nobody has to learn.
Sixteen pages, including six specialisms: a practice several months in, not a day-one launch.
Amberlight Counselling
Editorial and written. Warm paper and plum, large serif body type, an asymmetric main-and-sidebar grid on every page. Reads like something a person wrote, not a template.
Suits: a practitioner who writes (articles, a blog, a book) and wants the site to carry their voice.
Every page follows the shape, not just the home page.
Fieldstone Therapy
Quiet and clinical-modern. Near-monochrome ink and paper, one cobalt accent, sharp corners, restrained motion. A single centred column, the calmest of the five.
Suits: a practitioner without a headshot yet, or one who wants nothing on the page competing for attention.
No photograph required anywhere in the design.
Thornmoor Counselling
Grounded and structural. A cool pine-and-gorse palette on stone-grey paper, a mosaic of bordered "waypoint" chips in place of a card grid, pill-shaped radius throughout.
Suits: a practitioner who wants coverage areas, credentials and process steps to read as reference material, not prose paragraphs.
Same sixteen pages as Harebell, laid out in a genuinely different shape.
Hollowbeck Counselling
Structured and practical. A field-guide register: warm stone paper, indigo and brick-red, monospace index numbers on every label. Primary navigation lives in a fixed dock at the bottom of the screen, not a header.
Suits: a CBT or structured practitioner, and proves the same engine can carry navigation somewhere genuinely different, not just a different palette.
The only one of the five with no navigation in the header at all.
All five are demonstration practices, marked as such on every page. The practitioners are fictional, the registration numbers deliberately invalid, and the phone numbers come from Ofcom's reserved drama range: none can collide with a real person, and none of the sites are indexed by search engines.
Different look. Identical standard.
Layout is a decision made once. It's not a quality tier: the cheaper-looking option isn't the cheaper option. All five cost the same.
- WCAG 2.2 AA on every page
- verified in both light and dark mode, on mobile and desktop, by automated tests that run on every change
- Zero third-party requests
- no analytics, no pixels, no hosted fonts, no embedded widgets: enforced by the security policy, not by good intentions
- Keyboard operable throughout
- including the enquiry form, which also works with JavaScript switched off entirely
- Fees published in full
- including the cancellation policy, on all five
- The crisis line is in the layout itself
- so it cannot be forgotten on a new page, on any of the five
- Same enquiry-form standard
- three fields, message optional, nothing stored on the website: see the Work page for why
Yours would be its own register, not a recoloured one of these
Pick whichever feels closest. It becomes the starting point: your name, fees, specialisms, registration, colours, words. The demo practitioner and everything invented about them is deleted, not edited around.
If none is right, say so. The structure took the time to get right; colours and typography are the adjustable part: a new register is a conversation, not a rebuild.
